Books are the quietest and most constant of friends;
they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors,
and the most patient of teachers.
~ Charles W. Eliot
I love books!
The smell of them...
The feel of them...
To collect them...
Read them...
Create & alter them...
the more the merry I am!
It is not so much, what I wish to read...
As to, the time I wish I had to read them all.
As a little girl, friends and I would gather together
and spend endless hours... just reading.
I couldn't wait till summer vacation started
and our local library would have
The Summer Book Club
I would make sure that day was dedicated to signing up...
gathering more books than I could carry...
getting back home, as quickly as possible...
to share the books I had rented from the library...
and
to get started reading right away!
I do miss those days.
Honestly...
there is one book
I wish to read...
As in today...
asap

April this is a lovely post. I too remember with great fondness reading over summer vacation with my friends. I love both your words and your images.
ReplyDeleteAs April wishes for herself, I wish for her as well.
April, I love this!!! I used to LOVE the summer reading club at the library. I would ride my bike down there once a day to get more books and then go to my Grandma's house. (she lived across the street from the library...) Those are some of my sweetest childhood memories...
ReplyDeleteSo, many wishcasters are clearly also booklovers! How wonderful.
ReplyDeleteAs you wish for yourself, so do I wish for you as well!

ReplyDeleteI downloaded the ebook version of I'd Rather Be In The Studio two days ago. Still can't bring myself to read it, I hate marketing/sales... let me crawl under my rock. Pity I can't share it with you, I'm sure you'd put it to better use than me.As you wish for yourself, so do I wish for you as well.
ReplyDeleteThe images that accompany your wish are delectable.... you, as usual, delight me!

Thank you all for such lovely comments! I am glad I could remind you all, of those childhood days & the summer club... when life was simple.
ReplyDeleteYes... the book hugging picture is adorable, I agree. I wish I could have found the person who developed this photo, they deserve all the credit! :]
I'm a day late but still in the spirit of making a wish come true... A kindred spirit! I love that you love books so much, the smell, the feel, to collect and alter. I agree that there are so many books and so little time to read them all. I'm intrigued by the 'in the studio' book and I am wishing for you that you soon have it to read. BTW I love the book mark you created.
ReplyDeleteAs you wish for yourself, so I wish for you also. I LOVE books also, that picture and quote at the top are perfect. I went to the authors website and it looks like you can get a copy through there at a less expensive price. here is the link:
