Once Upon A Time...
Where do I begin?
It would seem like "once upon a time" would be the proper start for relaunching my blog.
Though it just doesn't feel right.
Let us just dive in with, "Where the heck you been?"
Like art, life can be a process too!
Sometimes there is no outcome. A fork in the road... and I have had my share of forks!!
There's been tears shed and growth made.
As a result, the universe has finally pulled me back to what I do best... what calls my soul.
Crafting time and a place to have ART back in my life.
WELCOME BACK MY FAITHFUL FOLLOWERS.
A WARM WELCOME, TO ALL, THAT ARE NEW HERE.
I know all are excited about my giveaway, I AM TOO!!
But wait, there is a story to be told.
So back to "Once upon a time" remember...
Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo...
Pulled the rabbit out of the hat...
And just like that, I started putting together a space for my art studio.
(kidding)
Like I stated, the universe pulled me in this direction...
The events in my life led me to this time and place.
I unpacked, loved and adored everything I started to place my eyes on.
Oh, "HELLO! collage bits I have collected and carefully kept safe. You knew I would return."
Unboxed books that were patiently awhile to be shelved.
"AHHHHH, YES!! the smell of books... how you excite me."
Started journaling and reading to jumpstart the fire.
What inspires me still?
What new things, if any?
Still VERY passionate about creating my own paper stencils... "That's good." ((KNODS HEAD))
Dived into a little mixed-media art journaling... always my favorite "go to".
Rediscovery...
Started painting, It's been a looooooooong time.
Having fun with this process. We will see where this goes. Who knows.
It has just been the direction my "gut" has gone.
As I feel, there is so much a painting can say. A story.
YES!!
Absolutely.
100% without a shadow of a doubt... mixed media and I have not broken up.
Still my first love.
Now, without further ado... "Onto the celebration!!"
What you came here for, right? Everyone likes a little special, homemade something.

rambles from an artist...

Are we willing to part will those pieces of work, that we have put so much time and effort into creating?
Even better question... what about the paintings, like this one here, that have some emotional attachment to.
Can or will I be willing to part with it? How about you?
Maybe, just maybe... you need to part with the painting to deliver a message.
At the time of painting, it is moving energy. Alive.
The energy stops once the painting is complete... is it still alive?
If the story is seen differently by the individual does this bring it back to life?
I know, this is going way off the chart here... but I am just rambling.

Trending Tuesday - stencils
Altered Pages Design Team project
Having multiple uses with one stencil
add a few collage techniques
pop in a tag (of course)
apply several layers of paint, and we can call it a "TRENDY TUESDAY!"

The tag and collage image are added after the layers of acrylic paint are applied; background effect.
I like to implement images of people, for they alone, can help move along a story in a journal.
A tag can also become an added addition with many functions to offer:
- apply writing on the back side of tag. ( it becomes a hidden note )
- attach to any side of the page with washi tape creating a flap to your journal. ( tip-in )
- paste a photo directly to the tag add embellishments.
- sew tag onto page.
Honestly, there are endless options to incorporating stencils, collage images or tags to any art journal... for there is no direct rules.
An art journal's mission is to allow for "play" and freedom of self-expression.
I personally, will move around all my paper objects countless times, before settling on gluing them down permanently.
As you see here... this art journal layout will allow plenty of room for writing.

what is collage chemistry?
the result of compounding different products to achieve the transformation of their prior substance, therefor resulting in a work of art.
tag project:
using products from Robin's Nest and collage images from Altered Pages these delightful tags were constructed, crafted, and achieved.
these tags were achevied using these techniques:
applying acrylic inks, patterned stencils, collage images from HERE,
paper source from HERE, glue with matte medium, and brush edges of tags with archival ink.
