background techniques

:: book swap ::
Hosted by Kim Beinschroth at artgeeks.ning.com. It is free to join the group.
This swap particularly struck my interest, due to the fact, it involved background techniques. Each artist volunteered a background technique to share and was required to create 21 pages; which in return will be bound into a book, and sent back to the (artist) participates in the swap.
** FANTASTIC** I can not wait to receive mine!!! I will defiantly share photos, once I receive mine back from the swap. All bound together, a collaboration of all original techniques created by very talented artist's from all over the world!
For now... here is my contribution to this, what I consider, an **incredible** swap.
My technique was to create textures with a masking tape overlay and layers of acrylic paint were apply to achieve a visual balance of rhythm.
Enjoy.

There are those real moments of solitude and self-reflection to balance out

News from The Studio - artist community

:: Traveling Canvas PROJECT 2013 ::
I decided to host a project with the idea of having a canvas travel to a variety of artist's,
to have them collaborate their skills and talents into one piece of artwork.

This project was released July 1st.
Each artist started with a blank canvas which was to be prepped before travel.
Artists were given an signed route and in the mailbox they went.
These canvases are traveling all over the world...
each person is adding their own unique "artistic" touch to the piece
and sending it on its way to the next person on the list.
Talk about "INSPIRING!!"

:: traveling my way ::
my add-ons.
my add-ons.

This project is a complete "success!"
We are all having an incredible time... excited and waiting for the next canvas to arrive.
 The group is committed; honoring the project, being supportive,
and connecting on levels that touch each soul "deeply".

:: bright & early bird ::
collage formatted
Birdies are popping up everywhere and I was so inspired with roben-marie's
I just had to take flight with a few of my own.
Layer upon layer of scrap papers... oh what fun!!
 combined with acrylic paint, rubber stamps, washi tape, and a bit of my imagination.
Discover the truth about yourself and the abilities are endless!

around here...

:: welcome home ::
 :: we made it happen ::
Our huge move out of state!
It wasn't easy... and Southern California made sure, we would never forget her!
We packed the moving truck for 4 days straight; early morning till late into the night.
We were seeing triple-digit temperatures all the way through, as California was experiencing a "heat-wave".

We hit the road...
a moving truck, 2 vehicles, Hubby's Harley Davidson, my race bike, 2 windmills,
the family dog, and my parrot "mojo".
We drove 3 days / 1,500 + miles to get to Washington State.
We unloaded the truck that night,for the rental was due the following morning.
We have been non-stop unpacking box after box... trying to settle in.

We have been here a little over a week now.
Went to the DMV registered our vehicles and applied for our new driver licenses.
Got the phone line, cable TV, and internet installed just this weekend.
** Ive been warned about "Island time!" **
this will take some getting use to.
I got to spending a little time with my nature journal.
The weather is great... so I am enjoying the outdoors
in-between unpacking, settling in, and making this our "happy nest".
