art bound book- a project success

art book
complete and bound together.
my little joy of papers all textured, layers, and hand-sewn with care.
thoughts of this project:
creating this art book was a wonderful experience.
this one I will carry forward to other art challenges along the way, as I continue exploring outside my boundaries.
enjoy!

work in progress...

art book
designed with coffee stained paper, layered paint, joint compound applied for distinct texture, and inked stenciled patterns... all coming together to create this book.
This art book project has been inspired from a recent "Paper Ephemera Project/Swap"
I Hosted for our artist community here- The Studio
Once we received our paper goodies, we were to create something from the collection, which the prior artist had treasured.
This project has been time consuming, I will admit.
Applying layer upon layer, on such delicate book pages... can be a challenge all it's own.
Patients must be practiced during the different stages of the layering.
The last part of the journey has arrived... binding everything together to create the art book.

Wish me luck!!
I will post more on the art book completed and bound together.

Tea Time - part II

There is nothing like sharing tea with a friend...
On any delightful afternoon will do!

Enjoy.

These teabag books can be addictive to create, I am warning you ahead of time!

You can modify them any way you wish...

Each of these I created using:
my paint papers (cover of book)
brown paper bags (book pages)
a whole bunch of creativity,
and
a dash of play time in my studio!

Templet

It was so wonderful sharing a cup of tea with you...
Have a great Tuesday!

Think Recyclable!

Yes...
I tend to get overly excited about creating something from reusable materials.
 I know...
it is an unusual use for an egg carton.

Looking over a ton of DIY projects, tutorials, and endless videos...
I narrowed it down to this one in particular.
I was absolutely thrilled, to how this craft is turning out!
Take in to mind... I made a few adjustments,
wanting to work with supplies and materials I already had available.

Today, I wish to share it along with you.

I am delighted to add this one to my bookshelf!!
** Egg Carton Book **

40 pages thick!

I am feeling this still needs a little more detail, so the project is not completed.
Thinking of adding a painted trim around the edges of the paper.
I will post future pictures of the book.

Also wishing to add some pockets to the pages.
Mixing in some scrap papers,
giving this a real look of recyclable materials.
Can not wait to see the end result!

It is amazing what we can do... when we imagine it!
Happy Monday to you.

What Draws Us Near...

Ever Notice... we are drawn to what we can identify?
Weather it is something personal, or by an experience; the attraction is there.

Frida Kahlo *
 I feel a real connection with this artist;
for her WELL KNOWN EXPRESSIVE paintings and her pain.

To share will you my artwork for the day...

I created these business card holders
from you guess it a...
 ** RECYCLED TIN **

So, whenever I am working with using Frida Kahlo as my subject,
It is very personal to me.

Mini Journals *
Color and books.
I just can not... EVER seem to get enough of either one!!

There is nothing more satisfying than creating your very own.

I was so thrilled to find the time, to finish up on these wonderful mini journals.
If you are interested in creating some of your very own
(There is a link to the video on this post)
So tell me... what draws you near?

Happy Tuesday!

Mini Journal

Okay, I have to admit.
I was sidetracked...
Didn't stay focused on what I was wishing to accomplish for the day...

I am a sucker for three things:
* Creating artful things out of reusable items. (recycle, reuse, recreate)
* Books of any kind! (book hoarder)
* Anything colorful (makes me happy)

Mini Journal
Created from recycled greeting cards.

Over the weekend, as I was visiting my favorite blogs...
I came across this fantastic video
on using your old greeting cards to create a mini journal.

Thank you

I fell in love with this idea... so clever.
It literally took me minutes to make and there was no sewing involved!

Enjoy watching Jenny's video tutorials

Out of just a few cards
I was able to make this mini journal.
This will be used in my BOD journal.
