Just Around the Corner...

These mixed media collage pieces are inspired by the expression 

stated,"around the corner." 

According to urban dictionary.com one will come apparent or will realize soon.

"Cheer up my friend, and don't worry...good times are just around the corner!"

I realized... when I am involved with my art, with is exactly what my soul is trying to get me to do.

I've come to realize, as an artist, I am completely in love with the techniques 

applied with collage making. 

Carefully constructing my story with paper.

Even the paper bits and torn scraps have a story to tell;

for they have a long history behind them being my faithful companions.

there is no denying that life can catch us off guard.

I believe, it is the way we go about handling this, that makes all the difference!

as I shelter myself from the sunless days and long October cold.

a dirty faced, bright- eyed grandchild, happy to take on the day!

preparing to share some BIG NEWS and changes ahead... 

I have come to the crossroads of my life... 

excited as I was to move with my Husband to enjoy retirement and live the Island lifestyle;  sometimes in life we come to terms that not everything or everyone, is meant to be at the same place at the same time.

or that what was intended, just didn't come to be...

shortly after the move, I suffered horribly with medical issues with no sign of relief!

the entire time after that I have spent ill.

the climate here is NOT for someone with my medical conditions.  

with no relief, support, or compassion from anyone near.

this only made my life more difficult. creating a world, I have NEVER experienced.

unwanted. unloved. feeling of guilt, for being sick. 

EXASPERATED...  

there was no room for healing- mentally, physically or spiritually.

then I realized this, I had come to the crossroads of my life... 

it needed my full attention, to take a step back and realize this was a serious. 

what took place after this, I promise you there is light at the end of the tunnel. 

there is more to share and yes... life challenges us. 

I have made some HUGE steps forward, just you wait and see...

Life is good!

Here is super fun way, to combine the elements we simply love to create and collect

into these artful tags.

Come along with me... I will show you how.   

arrows can be punched/precut from a stencil using painted papers, collage, or paper scraps from previous projects.  

steps to achieve this tag: 

first coat applied gesso ( black)

applied acrylic paint (white) then sanded a little to bring out the black background.

stencil in circle shapes using waterproof pen/marker.

paint stencil (question mark) charcoal edges.

glued confetti arrows using a UHU stick. 

steps to achieve tag two:

follows the same process as listed above, with a few added techniques and mediums. 

gesso, white paint/sand - add a third layer using a neutral color. 

stencil (circles) applied using acrylic paint.

- altered image adding colored pencils/watercolor 

(glue image using a matte medium) 

- applied a (black) trim (pitt pen) around arrow and distressed the edges (distress ink) 

washi tape added. 

there you have it... have fun with your collection of confetti.

originality at its best. a story only one will find personal... 

only one that will capture the heart. 

each art card is designed and created using collage elements, 

mounted on heavy card stock, and sealed with an acrylic varnish.

This ATC swap ran for three weeks. 
Each week a new " love of self " ATC was to be crafted carefully. 
Artist's opened their hearts and shared with the group, a little more about themselves. 
Resulting in a deep spirited series of three "one-of-a- kind" ATC's. 

Here is my collection, which is now being handed over to my swap partner.
