Tea Bag Bookmark
A little reminder of what we can make out of life if we just look around us.
I was in need of a bookmark. I was wishing it to be unique, a one of a kind.
A used tea bag. Dried with a little help from the sun.
Carefully handled... this became the canvas for my artwork.
inspired by lynne hoppe
A splash of watercolor, a squeeze of acrylic, a touch of ink,
sealed with wax and layered with clear acrylic.
She became a hand-painted one of a kind creation!
A tea bag turned into a bookmark.
I am so thrilled with how this turned out!!
My advise:
Look around you, use what you have available,
it is right there in front of you...waiting.
Make art.
Happy Wednesday!
Beautiful! What a great idea. I'm afraid our tea bags here are too small to make things like that, but I love what you have done! Hugs, Valerie

Glad you like the bookmark.
Wow, such a good use of an old tea bag (although I've never seen one that shape before!). It looks lovely and it will be so nice to have such a personal bookmark - I usually end up with scraps of paper! I feel another project coming on .... Fab work, April.

Thank you, the bookmark was a creation inspired by, artist Lynne Hoppe.
Must be an American tea bag, but it's so inventive - and so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHello Deborah

April 10,000 ideas just flew through my head for ideas to to with tea bags when I saw this! It is a beautiful, very innovative and creative work of art and I love it..and as for your advice I can relate to your thought on paying attention to that which is around you. All week I have been feeling the burn of working many hours at my day job and it not allowing for some creative release and as I sat at my my desk and starting looking around I realized that art really is everywhere and the resources for it can be found virtually in everything everywhere. Hence my latest blog! You could not be more accurate! Have a great day my art friends <3 Love all your posts!

Lovely work and I love that you up-cycled the tea bag. Question: You added clear acrylic over the beeswax? Hummm I didn't know you could do that. I often wondered how one would keep their beeswaxed paintings from getting dirty.
ReplyDeleteWe all throw away so much stuff, there has got to be a way to keep more some out of landfills.
Hello Linda
DeleteThank you for visiting, always love your company! :]
Glad you enjoyed your visit and the bookmark.
To answer your question, I used melted candle wax, then applied the clear acrylic.
I like the look of the candle wax, for this project.
Hope that was helpful. Take care.
April, I am speechless. You're brilliant and she's gorgeous! That's all I got :-) xoxo
ReplyDeleteAdorable, indeed. The things we can do if only we look and appreciate. Stunning and useful ;-)
