Art Journaling...

A Tribute
The Feast Day of my Patron Saint.

Art Journal Page

Yesterday, May 30th
I was gifted by a dear friend of mine!
She sent me this beautiful card, which she made...

Along with this inside.

We share the same Parton Saint.

At this point, I felt so loved and inspired...
I just had to run with it.
I wanted to have a record of this glorious day.
Honor a friendship.
Pay a tribute to our saint.

Enjoy!

The Eye of The Soul...

"The light of love, the purity of grace,
The mind, the music breathing from her face,
The heart whose softness harmonized the whole,
Oh! the eye was in itself a Soul!"
LORD GEORGE BYRON

What does the eye of your soul reveal...?

29 Faces In May

"Art does not reproduce what we see;
rather, it makes us see."
PAUL KLEE

Sometimes...
visual expression is the only way to make yourself heard.

Take it Gracefully...

"Learn to limit yourself;
to content yourself with some definite work;
dare to be what you are
and
learn to resign with a good grace all that you are not;
and
to believe in your own individuality."
HENRI FREDERIC AMIEL

Take it all with grace...

and turn the other cheek!

Face Your Imagination...

"Imagination is the beginning of creation.
You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine
and at last you create what you will."
GEORGE BERNARD SHAW

29 Faces In May

I simply fell in love with these "blue" hues... and ran with it.
Let my imagination get the best of me, what fun!

Here she is, in the glory of "BLUE".

Face #21

This painting was created on a 4"x 4" mini canvas.

In Perspective With Van Gogh

"Great things are not done by impulse,
but a series of small things brought together."
VINCENT VAN GOGH

29 Faces In May
With is exactly how I am feeling and thinking about the 29 Faces as a whole.
The process of creating each of these paintings
has been a wonderful experience!

Each one... carries its own unique statement.
Brought on my the maker; painter.
Time well spent...
an assortment of thoughts,
a collection of emotions, all accumulated and applied to the canvas.

I am discovering myself.
to better understand myself, through this process...
what a wonderful thing to gain, self awareness.

Face #19

This painting was created on a 5" x 7" canvas.
She has a title too.

Titled: speechless
Yes... she has nothing to say.
There are times in our life, when it is better to say nothing at all!

Face #20

Created on a 5" x 7 ' canvas.
Now this painting... started with just a thought I had in mind.
I honestly had no idea how she would turn out.
Yet, when I spend time looking at this painting...
I know just how she feels.
"I am not perfect, but I am put together in all the right places."

ENJOY
What is on my desk right now... Face # 21.

Happy Monday!

Inspired By Pablo Picasso

" Every now and then
one paints a picture that seems to have opened a door
and
serves as a stepping stone to other things."
PABLO PICASSO

29 Faces In May
Face # 18

This painting was created on paper, using a marbled technique.
Applied watercolor for the shading.
Added vintage paper for her features.

Mixing such mediums, was a challenge... I will admit.
Well worth the outcome!

Tell me...
Do you like what you see?

Face #18
This painting was created on a
5" x 7" canvas.

I enjoyed the process,
and
I will continue a few more paintings in this direction.
It just "FEELS" right.

 Happy Saturday!
Enjoy yourself... and make something that "feels" right.

29 Faces In May...

Be brave enough to live creatively.
The creative is the place where no one else has been before.
You have to leave the city of your comfort
and
go into the wilderness of your intuition.
What you will discover will be wonderful.
What you will discover will be yourself.
ALAN ALDA

Face #16

Painted on a 5" x 7" canvas.
The face was sketched on a vintage book page then applied to the painting.

Face #17

Painted on a 5" x 7" canvas.
This face was created using paper from a map dated in 1980.

I realized afterwards... once I uploaded the photo,
she was missing a little sparkle to her eyes. I will fix that.
Do you ever notice...
when you take a step back from your work, you see things in a different light.
A new perspective!

Working on sketch #18.
Going to try something a little different, this time around.
Looking forward to the outcome...
post pictures tomorrow.

Happy Friday!

Facing Accomplishment

"Be busy does not always mean real work.
The object of all work is
production or accomplishment
and
to either of these ends there must be forethought,
system, planning, intelligence,
and
honest purpose, as well as perspiration.
Seeming to do is not doing."
THOMAS A. EDISON

This quote is something I am applying to my work these days...
"I AM DOING!"

29 Faces In May

Yes... I am back on track!
Completed Face # 16.
I will upload a photo during my next posting, I promise.
I really wish to stay focused, complete one painting per day.
Getting caught up.. was work, honestly!!!
I realized...
I do not wish for my paintings to suffer.
Meaning...
that they become a mass of production; work without feeling,
then lose what creating them was all about.
Solution...
try my best to not get caught behind!!
***

This is what I am working on today.

I thought I would sketch this face out on a map.
Interesting background, don't you think?

Also, a sneak peek at Face # 16, there she is... in the background.
Enjoy.

Happy Thursday!

29 Faces In May...

Where the spirit does not work with the hand there is no art.
LEONARDO da VINCI

Face #15

This painting was created on a
5" x 7" canvas.

Once again,
I wasn't sure where this "blue" face would lead me.
The black hair just felt right and
the "magenta" painted flowers on vintage paper fit in perfectly.

I took a deep breath...
then realized this was all she needed, to just be.

Enjoy
